On 12th January at 12.00H CET, the TRI-HP project organised a webinar titled "Novel heat pump technologies based on natural refrigerants and multiple renewable sources". The session was hosted by BUILD UP.

Moderated by Jasper Vermaut, Policy & Project Officer at REHVA, the webinar allowed the project to present its main results, as it is coming to an end soon (February 2023). Three heat pump systems have been tested within the project: two solar-ice slurry systems based on natural refrigerants with intermediate storage, and a dual/source sink system using a reversible propane heat pump to provide both heating and cooling.
The first speaker to take the floor was Dr. Daniel Carbonell, who provided an overview of the project that is concluding and mentioned some of the solutions found during its implementation. Then, his colleague from SPF-OST Ignacio Gurruchaga talked about the Propane & CO2 Solar Ice Slurry Systems, an alternative heat source for heat pumps, explaining the concept and applications.
Xabier Anton Peña, from Tecnalia, was the third panellist in taking the floor. His intervention focused on the design and experimental validation of a R-290 dual source heat pump, speaking about the concept, the two prototypes developed and the different modes: air cooling, air heating, geo cooling and geo heating. After that was the turn of Alba Colet, from IREC - Catalonia Institute for Energy Research. Colet talked about Advanced Energy Management Controls for Heat Pumps, explaining how the software works and highlighting some case estudies and tests.
The webinar was coming to an end and Immanuel Stieß (from ISOE) took the floor to start his intervention, titled "Enhancing stakeholders’ acceptance of trigeneration heating & cooling systems". Finally, it was the turn of the audience to speak and share their thoughts through a Q&A session moderated by Jasper Vermaut.
